Broadband
A communication network in which the bandwidth can be divided and shared by multiple simultaneous signals (voice, data, video). The network can carry multiple signals by dividing the total capacity of the medium into multiple, independent bandwidth channels, where each channel operates only on a specific range of frequencies. The term broadband is widely used to describe internet connections with download speeds which are faster than dial-up, including DSL services, such as Verizon and SBC, cable modem services, such as Roadrunner (a division of Time Warner) and Comcast, as well as satellite connections.
